lyrics

Sweating in the kitchen, 5 pm
Just waiting for the sea breeze to kick in
The silence is broken by the clamor of the trainyard
And the flies who won’t leave me alone

The garden’s growing, well the weeds at least
Morning glory winding round and choking the stalks
And I can’t focus long enough to read my magazine
At least the collard greens are growing alright

I made a resolution
I'm gonna to watch more TV

Shadows stretching across the yard
Somewhere dogs are barking, I hope they’re okay
Like a sign seen in hindsight on a dodgy forest road
Seems everything is broken and nothing feels real

I made a resolution
I'm gonna leave room to breathe
Don’t have a real solution
Wish I’d stop clenching my teeth

Standing on the front porch, glass in hand
Heavy light pollution from the apartments across the tracks
But I don't mind, I can still see a couple constellations
And the bright face of a wandering star
